Visit of H.E. Sri Pranab Mukherjee to Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Kanchipuram

Hon’ble President of India Sri Pranab Mukherjee visited Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Kanchipuram today (13 Jun 2017). Hon’ble President was received in customary manner with Poornakumbham and mangala Vadyam at the Sri Kanchi Math entrance. The significance of the daily pujas were explained by HH Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji at the Puja Mandapam & Hon'ble president had darshan of Adi Shankaracharya's Ivory Vigraha. SamaVedic priests chanted Sama Vedam. Hon'ble President offered champa pushpas at the Adhisthanam of HH Pujyashri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal where Harati was performed by HH Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal.
The President performed Pada Puja to the divine padukas of Sri Adi Shankaracharya with Golden Bilvams in the presence of Pujyashri Acharyas, even as Archana Namavalis were recited. Then Hon'ble president sought the blessings of Acharyas. The visit ended with darshan of the Golden Chariot of HH Pujyashri Mahaswamigal. Earliet The President had darshan of Sri Kamakshi Ambal at the Kamakshi Ambal Devasthanam, Kanchipuram. Palabhishekam and Trishati Archana with saffron to the Srichakra at Kamakshi Ambal Sannadhi in presence of HH Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal. Ambal was adorned with Sahasranama Malai and Trishati Malai among other Visesha Abharanams. Sankalpam was performed for the welfare of all the citizens of India. Swarna Abhishekam was performed at Adi Shankara's shrine.
The President performed pradakshinam in battery car accompanied with traditional umbrellas ( Kanchiyil Kudai Azhagu).

During the darshan of the Guru Paramapara in the Adi Shankaracharya Sannadhi, His Holiness made a special mention of Acharya Gaudapada - who hailed from West Bengal and from whose time the Guru-Parampara came into vogue. Sri Gaudapada was the guru of Sri Govinda Bhagavdpada, who was in turn the guru of Sri Adi Shankaracharya.
