Kashmiri Pandits meet at Delhi - 7 Oct. 2011

A meeting of Kashmiri Pandits will take place at Devi Kamakshi Mandir, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, Opp. JNU East Gate, New Delhi on the 7th October 2011 in the benign presence of His Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji. The meet will commence at 5.30 pm.

Similar meets have been held in the past at Bangalore , Chennai and Kanchipuram( Click here for detailed reports).

Book Release Function

Lougakshi Gruhyasutram was published in Kashmir during the Maharajas' time with the first volume being brought out in the year 1928 and the second volume in the year 1932. Ever keen to initiate measures to protect and preserve our ancient wisdom, His Holiness had directed that the book be re-printed.

With the blessings of His Holiness, the book is being reprinted and brought out as a single volume by Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati. The book will be released by His Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji at the Rashtriya Samskrut Samsthan, Jammu, at 5.00 pm on 10th October 2011.

On the occasion, Shri.Kashinath Handoo, a 105 year old, Kashmiri Pandit will be honoured. Sri Handoo is a veteran and doyen of Kashmiri traditions and is greatly respected by the Pandit Community of Kashmir. He is a Karmakhand Shiromani, has written many Books on Kashmiri Shaivism, Hindu Philosophy and Jyotish Shastra besides being an expert in Tantra Shastra. He knows Sharada Lipi, the traditional script of the Kashmiris. He is said to be one of the very few in Kashmir to know Shiva Karma in detail. He makes the Panchang every Kashmiri year(said to be year 5086 now). He lives in Jammu.
