Kumbhabhishekam celebration of Kamkotishwar Mandir

H.H. Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal Sri Sankacharya of Kanchi Kamkakoti Peetham arrived in Varanasi on 7 April, 2009 via Allahabad to grace the Kumbabhishekam celebration of Kamakotishwar Mandir. After having a holy dip at Triveni Sangam & having darshan of Siddheshwar Temple and Aadi Shankar Viman Mandir, His Holiness arrived at Varanasi by 5 pmn near Assi Ghat Ramanuja Kot, a famous temple of Varanasi near Assi River. He was given a warm welcome by Dandi Swami (Sanyasis), Sanskrit Scholar, Sri Kutumb Shastri, Vice Chancellor of Sampurnand Sanskrit University and other prominent citizen of Varanasi. From there, His Holiness proceeded to Kashi Vishwanath Temple where the temple officials gave him traditional temple welcome. Being Pradosham Day, His Holiness performed Rudrabhishekam of Lord Vishwanatha and Rudraarchana. His Holiness paid visit to Godeess Annapurna Temple where Mahant Sri Rameshwar Puri and Temple staff welcomed Him with traditional temple honours. His Holiness performed Aarchana, and spent nearly half an hour there.

At Sonapura Char Rasta, His Holiness was given a warm welcome by the Vidhyarthis, Vaidic Vidwans and local citizens, with Poorna Kumbham and Vedic Chanting. From there, His Holiness arrived at Kamakotishwara Temple in a procession, accompanied with traditional South Indian-style Nadswaram. After gracing the Purnahuti of Fourth Kallam of Kamkotishwar temple, His Holiness visited Kanchi Mutt at around 7.30 PM, where Maharaja of Benaras Sri Anand Narayan Singh, prominent Sanskrit Scholars, Sri Reva Prasad Dwivedi, Sri Anjaneya Shastri, Prof Ramesh Panda, Dean of Sanskrit Faculty, Banaras Hindu University and other prominent citizens of Varanasi assembled & welcomed Him with Purna Kumbham & chants of Har Har Mahadev rendered the air. Welcome address in Sanskrit was read out and presented to His Holiness by Kashi Raja and Pandit Vireshwar Shastri Dravid and Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid.



At 7 am on the 8th morning, all Ved Vidhyarthis of Sri Jayendra Saraswati Ved Pathshala, Chitrakoot & Varanasi had a special Darshan of His Holiness. His Holiness blessed them with Rudrakhsha Beets & Vastram. At 8.30 am, His Holiness inaugurated a Bhakta Niwas premises constructed for devotees who visit Varanasi on Teerth Yatra for Dev Darshan. On the auspicious occasion, the Chairman of Kashi Vishwanath Temple Sri Harihar Kripalu Tripathi and Mahant of Annapurna mandir Sri Remeshwar Puri and representative of Dwarka Shankacharya Sri Avimukteshwarnand Saraswati were present. On the same day Kshetrapaleshwar (Gram Devta Temple)was also renovated and special Pooja Aarchana was performed in the presence of His Holiness.

His Holiness arrived at Kamkotishwar mandir for the Kumbhabhishekam. The priest took the holy water to the respective Gopuram of the temple of main deities and main Gopuram and at auspicious time of 9.15 am, performed the Abhishekam of Kalasha Jal with chanting of Ved Mantra and Har Har Mahadev. His Holiness had darshan of the Poornahuti of Maha Rudra Japam at Kamkotishwara and gave darshan to devotees for close to two hours.

On 09th April, His Holiness visited Kashi Kamkotishwara Temple at around 6 am and left for Ayodhya to perform a Kumbabhishekam there.
