With the benign blessings of Pujyasri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swamijis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, the foundation for the Madhya Swamimalai Temple was laid in Bhopal in the year 1978. The construction was completed in 6 years and the temple was consecrated with Kumbhabhishekam in the year 1984. Subsequent Kumbabhishekams were performed in the years 1997 and 2008. The temple is located on a hillock in the Arera Colony in Bhopal, at a distance of about 10 kms from the Bhopal main bus station.
