Vishwa Shanti Mahayagnya Commences at Manipur 14, 15 Feb. 2013

With the Blessings of His Holiness Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji and Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji, the seventh Viswa Shanti Mahayagnya and Veda Sammelanam commenced at Govindaji Mandir, Imphal, Manipur on 14th February 2013.

Veda Parayanam is being performed in the following Veda Shakhas:

Rig Veda

Shukla Yajur Veda Kanva Shakha

Shukla Yajur Veda Madhyandina Shakha

Krishna Yajur Veda

Sama Veda Jaimini Shakha

Sama Veda Kauthuma Shakha

Sama Veda Ranayaneeya Shakha

Atharvana Veda Shounaka Shakha

Atharvana Veda Pippalada Shakha

Around 40 Vedic Scholars from various parts of South India, Orissa, Varanasi, Kolkata and other places are taking part in the programme.

As part of the Shanmata Devata Yagnya, on the 14th the yagnyas commenced with Punyahavachanam, Swasti Vachanam, Sankalpam, Go Puja, and Ganapati Homam. On the 15th, Shri Vidya Mula Mantra Japam, Shrividya Homam, Lalitha Sahasranamam, Trishati, Ashtotra was performed. Suvasini and Kanya Puja was performed.

Parayanam of the following stotras is being performed Aditya Hrudayam, Vishnu Sahasranamam, Narayaneeyam, Lalitha Sahasranama Parayanam, Shankaracharya Stotras, Chandi Parayanam.

A Bhajan troupe led by Papanasam Shri Ramani Bhagvatar rendered Guru Kirtans in various languages coinciding with Guruvara i.e. Thursday. Friday being Vasanta Panchami celebrated as Saraswathi Puja, Devi Kirtans, and Navavaranam were sung.
