HH Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati Shankaracharya Swamigal performed the Maha Kumbhabhishekam of Sri Kamakshi Ambal Sameta Sri Ananthapadmanabha Eswara Swami Tirukkovil at Kanchipuram this morning( 3 Feb. 2021).

Sthala purana of the temple says that eight Naga devatas performed Shiva puja at Kanchipuram.

One Naga called Anantha did Shivalinga pratishta. Lord Vishnu along with the Naga performed Shiva Puja , lying in the Anantha Shayana. Hence the name of Ananthapadmanabha Eswara swami.

Over time, The Shiva linga got buried under the ground , and was identified by HH Pujyashri Chandrashekharendra Saraswati Mahaswamigal who got a divine call to retrieve the idol.
