Shankara Jayanti Celebrated at Kanchipuram

With the benign blessings of Their Holinesses Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji and His Holiness Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji, Shankara Jayanthi was celebrated at Kanchipuram, at Shrinagar and various other places.

At Kanchipuram, the celebrations were held in the presence of His Holiness Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji. Veda Parayanam, Bhashya Parayanam, Bhajans, Sloka Parayanam, discourses were conducted. Rudrabhishekam was performed to Sri Acharya. Avatara Ghata Parayanam was performed and special pujas were performed to Sri Adi Sankara by His Holiness Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji. At the Kamakshi Temple, Visesha Abhishekam and pujas were performed by His Holiness at Shri Adi Sankara's shrine in the temple. In the evening, the Utsava vigraham and portrait of Sri Adi Shankara was taken out in a grand processsion around the four Raja Veethis on the Golden Chariot, led by His Holiness. Veda Parayana, Mangala Vadyam, Bhajans, Folk Music & Dance were performed during the nearly three hour long procession. Special fireworks were organised as part of the event.
