"VED BHAVAN" was set up in the early 60's with the blessings of the Jagadguru Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam His Holiness Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi popularly know as "PARMACHARYAL" as a "Sama veda Patasala", In Bhagavat Gita Lord Krishna has said "VEDAANAAM SAAMVEDOSMI" i.e., highlighting the importance of Sama Veda. This activity is continuing under the "Ved Bhavan Bajan Samaj" which is a charitable trust functioning under the guidance of the Shankaracharyas of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. In order to commemorate the Centenary of "Parmacharya" an out door medical dispensary for the poor was set up under the name "KANCHI SANKARA MEDICAL CENTRE".

Kanchi Sankara Medical Centre is an out door unit set up to meet the Medical needs of the poor by providing top notch consultation/medicines absolutely free of cost, irrespective of cast creed or religion. The Centre has on its panel some of the leading Doctors of Calcutta, experts in various disciplines who have joined hands to serve the poor and needy. A large number of volunteers both men and women have also teamed upto provide free service at the unit every day. The Centre commenced operations on 2nd October 1997 and functions under the able guidance of Dr. V Ramana, Hon. Medical Superintendent and Dr. K S Krishnan, Advisor - Medical. We have already invested in the premises and provided infrastructure for first class chamber facilities.

It is our endeavor to build this out door medical unit into an institution and extend the range of services. In order to make this unit self-sufficient it is imperative to set up a corpus fund of Rs. 50.00 Lakhs (Rupees Fifty Lakhs only). Donations made in India for this project will get Section 80 B benefits under the Indian Income Tax Act.
