Pujya Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal visited Benaras Hindu University on 3rd October in the evening. His Holiness was received by the entire Sanskrit Department led by Prof VK Shukla, Rector, BHU. His Holiness was welcomed by Shri Shukla and other professors submitted Swagata Abhinandanam to His Holiness. Prof Kamalesh Pandey read shlokas on Pujya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal. Prof Dr. Rajaram Shukla read out the Hindi Translation of Speech by Pujya Shri Chandrashekharendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal delivered at BHU in 1934. His Holiness then addressed the gathering echoing the speech of Kanchi Mahaswamy and stressed its relevance in present times too.
His Holiness then released the 10th volume of Uttankita Vidyaranya Sanskrit Inscription series and blessed the first copy to Prof VK Shukla and rest to the department Professors. His Holiness traced the objectives of the Trust as to publishing Sanskrit inscriptions along with English translation to bring out the real history of our country. It may be recalled that the Trust commenced by Pujya Kanchi Mahaswamy in 1986 has been publishing books chronologically from 2th Century B.CE and the current edition covers 9th & 10th Century inscriptions. His Holiness said that he had reserved to release the book at BHU in the memory of Sri Kanchi Mahaswamy. After the first edition released in 1986 in the august presence of Kanchi Mahaswamy, Pujya Shri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal & Pujya Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal have blessed and encouraged the trust in fulfilling its objectives.
Prof Rajaram Shukla then read out the shlokas from the Swagatha Patram given by Bharat Ratna Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya to Kanchi Mahaswamy and concluded the programme with vote of thanks.
His Holiness returned back to Srimatam camp after a brief visit and performed the third Kala Puja. #kamakoti #Varanasi
